becoming a member
If you are considering a visit to our congregation, know that you will be most welcome! The doors of First Presbyterian Church of Dayton will always be open to you. We are a close-knit community of faith standing ready to extend the hand of friendship, remembering that at one time we were all visitors in this place. Wherever you are on your journey, wherever you have been, wherever God may be leading you – you will find a spiritual home here.
As Presbyterians, we believe the fact that God is active in the world through Jesus Christ is evidenced in a person's membership in a particular church. All believers are part of the body of Christ. But it is in membership that each of us has the chance to find full expression in the reflection, activity and mission of our church home.
We believe membership at the Dayton church will be for you a natural outgrowth of the covenant relationship God makes with God's people. Just as God has made a covenant with the people of God, so the people covenant together for worship, fellowship and mission.
Covenant involves
…… a call by God and a response from the person.
……promises by God
……..and promises by the person.
The covenant carries with it a new relationship.
You are ALWAYS welcome to take part in the Dayton church as a friend. But we hope that you'll come and join the family at Dayton Church as a way of living out your covenantal relationship with God. New members classes are held several times throughout the year. If you have questions about membership – don't hesitate to contact Rev. Wendi Werner.
